Young people not eligible to vote must go to court to sue Ford over climate policy

Trial Shows Ford’s Hypocrisy, September 23

Thanks to the column for pointing out the hypocrisy of the Ford government in its climate policy. Ford’s policies are indeed abhorrent, insufficient and essentially morally corrupt.

The article argues that this must be corrected by democracy, not the courts. Elections are not about one policy. Ford was elected for many reasons and that does not give him the right to threaten the security of future generations by actively increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Your document is full of articles on the impending damage to Canada due to climate change.

Many worried young people will never reach voting age before irreversible damage affects their future.

Their right to a secure future is enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person and the right not to be deprived thereof.
