Truer words have never been spoken, and the difference in intellect and speaking ability couldn’t be more different between them. Mulroney’s oratorical ability is considered one of the best of any Canadian PM. Mulroney could captivate his audience and was respected around the world. Trudeau talks about meaningless « word salads » and often loses his listeners.
I caught a most interesting long interview aired on an American network with Stephen Harper, who also attended the Queen’s funeral. Another excellent speaker, Harper was impressive, sounded like a leader, and his answers to tough questions were clear and concise.

Trudeau is perhaps the least impressive prime minister ever released on the world stage. Unfortunately, thanks to Singh, we’re stuck with him for the foreseeable future.

HOPE FOR THE HOMELESS
Finally, hope for the homeless. Hope is in the air for these unfortunates who have to spend their days pushing four-wheeled, bare-breasted metal suitcases containing all their material possessions. They are constantly seeking shelter in anticipation of another cold, restless and mostly sleepless night, while daily rummaging through the darkness of dumpsters for enough basic food to last them another day.
Good news can come from government officials who have finally committed, along with the new candidates in the elections, to providing affordable and subsidized housing for these vagrants. Hopefully, for once, the miles of paperwork will be cut to a manageable length before the dreaded, cold Canadian winter arrives in our region.

We are always ready to help those who are in difficult situations in so many other countries. Why can’t we prioritize taking care of our own to change instead of ignoring them without a look, pretending they don’t exist?
Those initiating these much-needed changes must remain bold and vigilant in their goals.

GO MARK GO
Finally, after several decades, we have a candidate for mayor who bases his platform on common sense and returns to civil engineering. What a breath of fresh air, not tackling the automobile, fixing the roads and understanding that many citizens simply cannot take public transit due to their work schedule or geographic location.
This man is measured and sensible, and genuinely cares about the people he wishes to represent. He certainly has my vote.

WAIT UNTIL TORY TAKES OVER
Denial. Our federal monetary woes are due to two crises: COVID-19 and Russia’s deplorable war with Ukraine. The federal government has spent heavily on our « wars » against these two enemies. Yet Convoy Pete and his followers continue to deny that these issues, battling the horrific ramifications of both, are what got us into debt. Wait for the curators to take over. As one wise singer invoked, « You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet! »

EAT, CHILDREN
Although food inflation is now over 10%, there is good news. Apparently, bananas, tofu, and flour are still quite affordable. Hey kids, guess what we’re having for dinner…again?
