Crews will continue to replace aging underground infrastructure and pavement, with surface work continuing this year.

Eastbound traffic, including cyclists, will be diverted onto McArthur Avenue along North River Road and the Vanier Parkway, connecting to St. Laurent Boulevard, the City of Ottawa announced Tuesday.

OC Transpo routes will be modified and some segments of Montreal Road will have two-way traffic primarily for bus use.

On-street parking will not be permitted on Montreal Road between Vanier Parkway and Saint-Laurent Boulevard and some side street closures will also be required.

Access to and from existing driveways will be maintained along Montreal Road westbound only.

The Montreal Road revitalization project includes the burying of 900 m of overhead power lines, the construction of 2 km of new road, bike paths, curbs, sidewalks, aqueduct and storm and sanitary sewer, plus utilities, 11 intersections with traffic lights and the covering of the promenade between Montreal Road and McArthur Avenue.

Also on the list are public artwork for Vanier and Montreal Road and three public spaces on Dupuis and Emond Streets and Bradley Avenue, as well as upgraded transit facilities including bus shelters and benches.

The new landscaping will include more than 80 trees and 1,800 shrubs.
