PLUM, Pa. (KDKA) – A woman is accused of repeatedly shooting her boyfriend during a breakup in Plum.

Crystal Veasey, 38, shot Glenn Smith Jr. in the chest, shoulder and hand in a house on Emerald Drive, police said.

Veasey was in a relationship with Smith and was from Ohio. During the argument, police said the couple had separated and Smith told Veasey to leave her home. Smith said he turned to find Veasey pointing a gun at him and she fired several times.

The two fought physically before Smith ran outside for help, police said. Veasey ran to the kitchen for a knife and started chasing him, investigators said.

Although the shooting was not filmed, footage from Ring Doorbell showed Smith in the middle of the road calling for help.

Smith’s longtime neighbor let KDKA-TV enter his home on Thursday to see the bullet holes that pierced his walls. One bullet landed in the home’s laundry room and the other landed in the kitchen after narrowly missing the heads of his wife and one-year-old daughter.

After the alleged shooting, neighbors said Veasey ran to his car and took off. The police found her several kilometers away.

The house on Emerald Drive isn’t the only possible investigative scene, and police are also investigating another scene on Kerr Road.

Veasey is in Allegheny County Jail charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence. A judge refused to release her on bail Thursday, calling her “risk of absconding”.

Family members say Smith is recovering at a local hospital. He’s in a good mood, all things considered.

Smith worked at Duquesne Light, who released a statement saying:

“We can confirm that Glenn, who was injured in this tragic incident, is a longtime employee of the Duquesne Light Company. Our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers from his injuries.
