Winnipeg Police Department dies after child pornography charges are laid against him

WINNIPEG – A police officer died shortly after being charged with child pornography offences.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Const. Yvan Corriveau, a member of the force for 15 years, was found deceased and his death is not considered criminal in nature.

According to the RCMP, Corriveau, who was 39, was arrested Thursday in a house south of the city, in particular for possession and access to child pornography.

He was released after the arrest.

Winnipeg police say the Independent Investigation Unit, a civilian-run body that investigates police, was notified of the arrest.

They say they won’t release any further information about the death.
