Proposal 50 would move the lines of the State Congress District to promote Democrats. It’s Gov, Gavin Newsom’s response to an effort similar to Texas designed to put more Republicans at the Congress. The new district lines would have those created by the State who is not a partisan independent redistribution of the State.
Supporters include democratic politicians and parties and unions. Newsom said it was a necessary step to counter President Trump and to protect the Californians. The Republicans oppose the measurement, arguing that the partisan cards would bring the state back.
Times follows contributions to a support committee for the 50 and two committees opposing the measure. Many committees have contributed to these main committees.
Since the announcement of the proposal in August, donations supporting the measure have flocked.
Times follows contributions to the main fundraising committee to support proposal 50, which is controlled by Newsom. The majority of the PAC chamber, which aims to elect Democrats to the House of Representatives of the United States, is the best donor with nearly $ 11 million. The George Soros fund for policies reform is the main donor with $ 10 million. The majority of the PAC house is the second largest donor. Unions are also major supporters.
The measure has received the support of several executive donors and commercial philanthropes, including Michael Moritz, Gwendolyn Sonteheim and Reed Hastings.
Nearly 150,000 people have given $ 100 or more. More than $ 11 million, around 14% of the total increased, came from contributors to small dollars, or from those who gave less than $ 100.
Times also follows contributions to two main opposition committees. Most of the money to these groups come from extremely important contributions from a handful of donors.
Charles Munger, Jr., son of the former vice-president of Berkshire Hathaway, contributed more than $ 32 million to responsible PAC politicians.
Contributions to small dollars represented $ 7,500 from the total increased.
The Leadership Fund of the Congress gave $ 5 million to the Stop Sacramento Stop Power Agreement Committee.
