FRIDAY
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
This pick of the week has never been in doubt, largely because it’s the most expensive series ever made with a reported price tag of $465 million. The epic is set thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkien’s « The Hobbit » and « Lord of the Rings » books and focuses primarily on the heroes of the Second Age of Middle-earth history. The show follows a cast of characters as they battle a re-emergence of evil. Prime Video has been promoting the series for months (no surprise considering how expensive it is) and audiences will finally be able to see if the steak is worth all the sizzle.

Dated and related
I can say with certainty that this show has the worst title of any reality series ever. I guess only time will tell how the show lives up to its name (it can’t get any worse, right?). That being said, the outrageous concept is still worth checking out. Siblings are taken to a mansion in France as they try to find love with other siblings who are also there. Awkwardness ensues as the siblings try to find their perfect match with other siblings while their own siblings watch every flirtatious move. Guess we finally know what reality TV looks like in 2022. The question is, can we look away?

This new Apple TV Plus Original sees a teenager returning to school with a fresh perspective and excitement for what the future holds after a battle with cancer. Ella, played by Lily Brooks O’Briant (« The Tick ») uses her new « carpe diem » attitude to defy everything she was afraid of before her diagnosis. The inspiring and relatable series also has a powerful message for kids about the dangers of fake friends and the pitfalls of allowing a social media presence to influence everyday life.
