This year, Christmas Day falls on a Sunday.
Many businesses and services on Prince Edward Island will be closed on December 25 and Boxing Day.
Some businesses will also be closed or have reduced hours on December 24.
It’s best to call before you go to confirm if they’re open or closed.

Here is a list of what is open and closed for some of the main businesses and public services on the island:
Provincial offices, including Access PEI locations, will close December 24 at noon and reopen December 27.
All PEI Liquor stores will be open until 5 p.m. on December 24 and will reopen on December 27 for normal hours.
All PEI Cannabis stores will be open until 5 p.m. on December 24 and will reopen on December 27 for normal hours.
The Slemon Park and Park Street COVID-19 testing sites will be open Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon.
All COVID-19 testing sites and test and vaccine booking lines will be closed on December 25, 26 and 27.
Summerside municipal offices will be closed December 24-27 and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on December 28.
Municipal offices in Charlottetown will be closed at noon on December 23 and will reopen on December 28 for normal hours.
Atlantic Superstores will close at 5 p.m. on December 24 and will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. They will reopen at 7 a.m. on December 27.
Sobeys stores will all be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. On December 24, Sobeys stores will close at 5 p.m.
All Murphy’s Pharmacy locations will be closed on Christmas Day. Some including Cornwall, Kensington, Stratford, Parkdale, Queen Street, Kinlock and West Royalty will be open Boxing Day, and times will vary depending on location.
The Confederation Court Mall will close on December 24 at 4 p.m. and will reopen on December 27 for normal hours. The Shoppers Drug Mart will be open until 9 p.m. on December 24, will be closed on Christmas Day and will reopen at 10 a.m. on December 26.
Shoppers Drug Mart stores at 403 University Ave. and at 675 University Ave., Summerside’s Country Fair Mall and Kinlock Plaza will be open on December 24, 25 and 26. Hours will vary by location.
Lawtons Drugs locations will be closed on Christmas Day, but will reopen on Boxing Day. Hours will vary by location.
Royalty Crossing, the former Charlottetown Mall, will close Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. and reopen Dec. 27 at 9 a.m.
PEI Public Libraries will close at noon on December 24 and will be closed on December 25 and 26.
All Island Waste Management Corporation collections will normally take place during the holidays.
IWMC drop-off centers will close on December 24 at 12:30 p.m. They will be closed on December 25 and 26 and will reopen on December 27 during regular hours.
T3 Transit city transport will not operate on December 25 and 26. On December 24 it will be running, but some times have changed, so check the website. Rural transit will not operate December 24-26.
Canada Post will not be providing regular mail collection or delivery from December 25-27. The postal counters of the franchised establishments may be open according to the hours of service of the host company.
