What to expect to Openai d’Opnai 2025, and how to look at it

OPENAI is preparing to organize its third annual developer conference, DEVDAY 2025, Monday. The company claims that more than 1,500 people should meet in Fort Mason in San Francisco for the “biggest event” of Openai to date, which offers ads, Keynotes from Openai leaders and a cat by the fire between CEO Sam Altman and the long -standing designer of Apple Jony Ive.

According to sound, Devday 2025 promises to be a large display of the growing domination of Openai in Silicon Valley against giants like Apple, Google and Meta. OPENAI is currently building an AI device, a social media application and a browser powered by AI to face Chrome. In other words, Openai has much more than during his first Devday in 2023, when he came mainly from Chatgpt and an API company for developers to access his models.

At the same time, Openai faces more competition than ever in the attempt to win developers.

In the past year, the models of AI Anthropic and Google have become more and more capable of code tasks and web design. Openai was forced to publish better AI models at lower prices to stay in the race. In the background, Meta has built an impressive list of AI talent in her new group, Meta Superintelligence Labs, which could become another threat to Openai in the near future.

Openai unveiled during its first DevDay in 2023, a new model of AI, GPT-4 Turbo and Altman shared its vision of a market of AI agents called GPT Store. Altman was ousted as CEO a few days later – to return after a dramatic weekend of negotiations. In 2024, Openai responded with a more modible conference, announcing significant developer upgrades, such as API for AI vocal applications, but not much else.

Nothing is confirmed to be launched at Devday 2025, engaging many rumors. Perhaps Openai will finally unveil the browser fed by AI on which he worked, or perhaps give an update on the IA device that he built with IVE and the former managers of Apple. It is also possible that there are updates linked to the GPT store, or a new offer that allows developers to build agent workflows.

Techcrunch will be on the ground in San Francisco covering the event live, so you can come back here for all the news. Here’s what you need to know about Devday d’Opnai and how to look at it.

October 27-29, 2025

Devday 2025 starts at 10 a.m. on October 6 with an Altman opening keynote, in which he should reveal “Ads, live demos and vision of the way developers reshape the future with AI”. The keynote will last approximately an hour and will be broadcast live on the OpenAi YouTube page.

This is the only event that will be broadcast live for remote participants.

For participants in person, there will be presentations and discussions on stage of the CEO of Cursor Michael Truell, the mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, and the investment partner of Andreessen Horowitz, Kimberly Tan, among others. Several OpenAi employees will also pronounce speeches on their work, including the researcher in behavior of the models Laurentia Romaniuk and the Codex Direct Alexander Embiricos.

He is also supposed to have a series of slideshow fueled by AI at Devday 2025. One of them is “Sora Cinema”, which is described as a “comfortable mini-theater with popcorn” with short films generated by the video model of Openai, Sora. He is also supposed to have a telephone booth with a “living portrait” of the famous computer scientist Alan Turing “who speaks”.

Later in the afternoon, there will be two major events to crown Devday. These last two events will not be in trouble, but they will be published on YouTube later in the day.

At 3:15 pm, there will be a “developer State of the Union” with the president of Openai, Greg Brockman and Olivier Godment, who directs the product for the Openai platform. The two Openai leaders should “demonstrate new capacities” and share what awaits us for developers.

Finally, at 4:15 pm PT, Altman and Ive will make a “discussion of closing by the fire” to discuss “the crafts of construction in the AI era”. This conversation will last approximately 45 minutes.

Update 10/6/25: This article was initially published on 10/3/25. It has been updated to reflect the changes to the Devday guest list, as well as new rumors that have surfaced during the weekend.
