‘We’re going to find bodies for weeks,’ Kentucky governor says of flooding
Beshear said efforts are underway to continue to search for missing persons following the natural disaster.
« It’s going to take time to fully understand that, » he said. “We still cannot enter certain areas to check on people. We are doubling our National Guard. We will work to go door to door, work to find, once again, as many people as possible. We will even work in the rain. But the weather complicates things.
As for what comes next, Beshear said the state will focus on rebuilding its infrastructure to be better equipped for extreme weather conditions.
« We need to make sure our roads, our bridges, our culverts, our flood walls can withstand greater intensity, » he said, adding that the president’s US bailout and bill bipartisan on infrastructure are both « a good start ».
