We cannot rule out Trump launching military strikes against domestic groups

On MSNBC’s “All In” Wednesday, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said President Donald Trump launching military strikes against domestic groups cannot be ruled out.

Host Chris Hayes said, “The administration’s claim is that they’ve called Tren de Aragua a narco-terrorist, and that elevates them, and that we’re in armed conflict with them. Today, Attorney General Pam Bondi, who refused to answer so many of these questions at a White House meeting on Antifa, said, in essence, we’re going to treat Antifa the same way we treat the cartels. Now one of these cartels, they said, is a narcoterrorist, that they have the inherent constitutional authority to order strikes. And I have to say that this moment, you know, caught my attention, given the level of violence that they’re directing against these cartels.

Schiff said: “That should get our full attention because if you look at where it started. It started with the exploding of ships. Then the president says, well, we can now land on targets in Venezuela or wherever. And with statements like those from the attorney general, now you start to wonder if they believe they have the authority by putting certain groups on a list, even domestic groups, to use deadly force against them, without trial, without due process, nothing. And, you know, the reality is we can’t rule that out. We cannot rule it out. I mean, given the abuse, the misuse of the military in American cities, the president telling the assembled generals and admirals that we have an enemy within, that this is a military training ground in American cities, as far as he’s concerned, you can’t rule out the possibility that the next step is to attack groups closer to home, or even here at home.
