Vancouver’s Celebration of Light Fireworks festival returns after 2-year hiatus – BC

Vancouver’s skies will be filled with bright, dazzling colors on Saturday night as the Honda Celebration of Light event returns to English Bay.
Like many events, the annual international fireworks festival was on hiatus for the first two years of the pandemic, but is back for its highly anticipated 30th year.

« It’s a very exciting time for us to come back and bring this incredible event back for all of British Columbia, » said Paul Runnals, a spokesperson for Honda Celebration of Light.
« I want to thank all of our agency partners who have worked so hard behind the scenes to make this possible. »
Japan will take the stage on Saturday evening, then Canada on Wednesday July 27 and Spain on July 30.

Authorities are advising attendees to plan ahead as the streets will be busy with both cars and pedestrians.
“This will be the first major event or the largest event hosted by Vancouver since the start of the pandemic,” said Sgt. said Steve Addison, a VPD officer.
« We expect tens of thousands of people to take to the West End on the streets, on the beaches and in the parks. »
In addition to traffic, there will also be extensive road closures around Vancouver’s West End on Saturday evening.
The public is asked to walk, cycle or take the bus to the event instead of driving.
