Valeri Nichushkin scores a great goal and the Avalanche defeat the Golden Knights

LAS VEGAS — Valeri Nichushkin scored one of the top scoring candidates of the year as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 on Saturday night.
Nichushkin grabbed the puck in his crease and carried it across the rink. He served a nice fake to defender Brayden McNabb before thwarting Logan Thompson.
Nathan MacKinnon and Evan Rodrigues threaded the needle on the power play for the Avalanche, who found their way back to victory.
Alexandar Georgiev stopped 34 of 36 shots for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson replied for the Golden Knights, who had won four of their first five games of the campaign.
Mark Stone and Jack Eichel assisted in both of their team’s goals as Thompson made 22 saves.
