US Startup Airline Breeze Airways plans to fly internationally for the first time at the start of next year, aimed at winning travelers in search of sun while the carrier enters its fifth year of flight.

The organization of the seasonal service of the airline starts on January 10 with a route only on Saturday between Norfolk, Virginie and Cancun, in Mexico, followed by round trips between Charleston, South Carolina and Cancun on January 17, also on Saturday.

The other routes include Saturday service in Cancun from New Orleans on February 7 and Providence, Rhode Island, a week later. In March, Breeze also plans to start the service Thursday and Saturday between Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina and Montego Bay, Jamaica, and the Wednesday and Saturday service in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Breeze was launched by JetblueThe founder, David Neeleman, made his debut during the pandemic in May 2021. The airline now serves 81 cities, with 291 routes without stopping, and a spokesperson for the carrier said that Breeze is the only airline by serving 83%.

The carrier has been working for years with the Federal Aviation Administration to win a certification to fly internationally, said Lukas Johnson, commercial director of Breeze, in an interview.

It is the first American passenger airline to win this certification from Virgin America, which was acquired by Alaska Airlines In 2016, said Johnson.

He said that Breeze continues his business management model for his Airbus A220-300 between cities that have little or no competition from his competitors and added that the new routes are “an exciting starting point”.

“We are really convinced that it will be an excellent response from the guests,” he said.

The prices for the new routes start as low as $ 99 in one direction, but Johnson said that the higher class demand for its more expensive and more spacious seats has been solid and that there is a two -digit percentage which reserve a more expensive seat the second time they fly.
