Unilever CEO to retire next year after Rocky tenure

LONDON-Unilever PLC said the chief executive Alan Jope plans to retire at the end of next year, marking the end of what has been a difficult tenure at the helm of soap maker Dove and ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s.

The London-based consumer goods giant said on Monday it would conduct a formal search for a successor and consider internal and external candidates.
