Ukrainian grain exports top 1 million tonnes under UN deal


KYIV, Ukraine – Grain exports from southern Ukrainian ports topped one million metric tons under a United Nations-brokered deal with Russia that lasted nearly a month even as hostilities are raging elsewhere in the country.

Officials from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN signed the grain deal in July after months of diplomacy aimed at allowing ships to pass through the Black Sea to ease a crisis world food.
