Ukraine launches counter-offensive to disrupt Russian supply lines

KYIV, Ukraine — Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive against the eastern town of Izyum, aimed at disrupting Russian supply lines in the Donbas region, officials said on Saturday, as Ukrainian forces continued to clear the villages north of the country’s second largest city, Kharkiv.

As the war entered its 80th day, Russian offensive operations in the Donbass remained largely stalled following the failure of Russia’s ambitious attempt to cross the Siverskyi Donets River and encircle the Severodonetsk metropolitan area, the capital of the Lugansk region administered by Ukraine.
