Ukraine asks Turkey to take ‘urgent action’ on grain vessels – POLITICO
Ukraine has asked Turkey to take « urgent action » on a Russian-flagged freighter carrying 7,000 tonnes of grain from the Russian-occupied port of Berdyansk.
The vessel, the Zhibek Zholy, is en route to the Turkish port of Karasu.
Ukraine’s Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar wrote on this Facebook page that the Kyiv Prosecutor General’s Office had written to the Turkish authorities asking for « urgent action » to be taken regarding the ship.
It is not known where the grain of the cargo comes from. Russia has been accused of seizing grain in Ukrainian areas controlled by Russia, which Moscow denies.
« We have good communication and close cooperation with the Turkish authorities, » the ambassador said. « I am convinced that the decisions taken will prevent attempts to violate Ukraine’s sovereignty. »

Yevhen Balytskyi, who was recently appointed by Russia as governor of Ukraine’s occupied Zaporizhzhia region, said earlier this week that the grain would be sent to « friendly countries ».
