UK markets rally as investors bet government will roll back tax plans

LONDON — Britain’s financial markets rallied on Thursday as investors bet the government would reverse its recent tax cut plans, while the country’s prime minister Liz Truss is grappling with a growing rebellion from investors and lawmakers in her own conservative party.

Analysts said UK government bond prices rose and the pound jumped against the dollar as some or all of the government’s plans were expected to be cancelled.
