UEFA reluctantly approved a proposal to organize a Laliga match between Barcelona and Villarreal in Miami, the director organized on Monday.
He said that it was in “clear opposition” to the idea of playing national league games outside their country of origin, but added that he had approved two requests – one from Laliga, and another from Serie involved AC Milan and the Como – citing the vague FIFA framework.
UEFA had previously delayed its decision on the question of whether a confrontation of Villarreal-Barcelona could take place at the Hard Rock stadium in Miami on the weekend from December 20, while Milan and the Como had a similar plan to compete in Perth, Australia, in February.
The final decision on the staging of these matches will now go to FIFA, which is still completing new regulations.
The decision comes in the middle of the fierce opposition of groups of fans across Europe.
“UEFA has reiterated its clear opposition today to the matches of the national league played outside their country of origin,” he said.

“After the meeting of its executive committee in Tirana (, Albania,) last month, UEFA undertook new consultations with the stakeholders … This consultation confirmed the general lack of support which had already been raised by fans, other leagues, clubs, players and European institutions around the concept of national league matches that move abroad.
“However, given that the FIFA regulatory framework concerned – currently being examined – is not sufficiently clear and detailed, the UEFA Executive Committee reluctantly made the decision to approve, in an exceptional manner, the two requests mentioned there.
“UEFA will actively contribute to the current work carried out by FIFA to ensure that future rules confirm the integrity of interior competitions and the close link between clubs, their supporters and local communities.”
The decision will be considered a major victory for Laliga, which has been trying to move a game in the United States since 2017.
After the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) supported proposals earlier this year, the green light from UEFA, as reluctant, is considered a significant step forward.
A source from the League has declared to ESPN “Concacaf and the Federation of the United States of Football will now be informed,” explaining that this is the next step to complete the process, but with the expectation that the two will not increase any objection.
He will then come down to FIFA. ESPN contacted the director body to comment but has not yet received an answer.
There remains an important opposition within Spain, on the part of the Association of Players (AFE), groups of supporters and clubs in Laliga, with Real Madrid saying that it “deforms” the competition.
Although none of them is able to immediately stop the game process in the United States, they could degenerate the issue of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
There is also a potential confrontation to be resolved. Villarreal-Barcelona is scheduled for the weekend from December 20 to 21.
On Sunday, December 21, Miami dolphins should play Bengals from Cincinnati at Hard Rock Stadium in the NFL. The match is currently ready for the lucrative machine “Sunday Night Football”.
Reconfigure the Stade de l’Abergence de Football one day in American football, or vice versa, would be difficult, although sources have told ESPN that it would be possible.
