The Treasury Department plans to make a $ 1 part of President Donald Trump’s resemblance on both sides to honor him and commemorate the United States’s 250th anniversary next year.

A first draft of this piece, which will mark the semi-printing anniversary of the nation’s foundation, depicts Trump’s head in one side, above words “in God we trust” and dates 1776 and 2026.

The other side of the medal shows a provocative appearance Trump raising his fist, closely corresponding to the installation he struck for a few moments after surviving an assassination attempt during a presidential campaign rally in 2024 in Pennsylvania.

The words “fight to fight”, that Trump blocked to his supporters just after this attack, appear around the edge on this side of the medal.

“No false news here. These first drafts honoring the 250th anniversary of America and @potus are real,” wrote the American treasurer Brandon Beach on X in response to a vaining of the sketches of the play.

“Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist closure of the American government is over,” wrote Beach.

The secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, republished the message of the beach of his own account X.

A treasury spokesperson told CNBC that a final design for a $ 1 part to commemorate the birthday has not yet been selected.

But “this first project well reflects the sustainable spirit of our country and our democracy, even in front of immense obstacles,” said the spokesperson, adding: “We are impatient to share more soon”.

Commemorative parts are legal, but they are not struck for general traffic, according to the currency of the United States.

It was not immediately clear if the government had created previous commemorative documents or other documents representing a living president.

A federal law signed by Trump in January 2021 – only a week before the end of his first mandate – allows the secretary of the Treasury to hit parts of $ 1 “with emblematic conceptions of the American semi -concingent” during the year of the birthday.

But this same law, under a section on circulating collectible currency standards, declares: “No head and shoulder, portrait or bust of any person, living or dead, and no portrait of a living person can be included in the design, unlike any room under the paragraphs (x), (y) and (z).”

The paragraph refers to the rules concerning the parts for the 250th anniversary.

This language appears in similar forms in other laws linked to the parts listed on the US Mint website.

The Federal Bank of the San Francisco Reserve Note: “To avoid the appearance of a monarchy, it was the long -standing tradition to present only portraits of people who died in currencies and in parts.”

“This tradition has become the law with an act of congress of 1866,” added the Fed bank.

The Treasury Department did not provide a comment in response to CNBC questions on the legality of the part project.
