DALLAS- California State Legislator Kevin Kiley hopes his endorsement of former President Trump will get him from Sacramento to Washington DC
Speaking to Fox News Digital at CPAC Dallas last week, the 37-year-old Republican vows to « return to the policies that worked » if elected to California’s third congressional district.
« Before Joe Biden took office, we had a record economy, we had safer communities, we had a secure border. And when Joe Biden took office, it just was a complete wreck, » said Kiley at Fox News Digital. « So from the beginning, my campaign has been about change. And I think the policies that we saw that worked under the Trump administration are the policies that we need to go back to. »

Kiley, who previously participated in the failed recall effort against Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, said his top three issues he would prioritize in Congress were the economy, immigration and crime; the latter on which he insisted a lot.
He pointed to the successful recall effort in the « extremely liberal city » of San Francisco that led to the ousting of District Attorney Chesa Boudin and the warning that LA law enforcement encouraged residents not to wear jewelry when they go out, suggesting a tide is turning in favor of Republicans.

Regarding local media coverage of him, Kiley took a swipe at the Sacramento Bee, whose editorial pages he accuses of making « no attempt at fairness. »
« They’ll even do these so-called ‘fact checks’ where what you said is absolutely true, there’s no debating about it, and yet they somehow find a way to say it’s wrong, » Kiley said. « They are there to attack me, to promote my Democratic opponent. »

Although he admitted that local networks were « fair enough » for him, Kiley lamented the lack of statewide media capable of scrutinizing Democratic politicians like Newsom.
« People are unhappy in California, they were for a while before it even went off the rails with the Biden administration, » Kiley said. « They’re frustrated with homelessness, they’re frustrated with the perpetual problems we have, with the catastrophic wildfires, with the cost of living, with crime – almost everything else. »

He continued, « But there’s been a kind of sense in which the dots aren’t always tied between the deterioration of our state and the terrible policies coming from our state capitol. So I think it’s necessary to focus more on the part of the media connecting those dots for voters.”
