Travis Scott’s first festival since the Astroworld tragedy canceled

Rapper Travis Scott’s first festival where he headlined since the cancellation of the Astroworld tragedy.

Nevada’s Day N Vegas festival has been scrapped due « to a combination of logistical, scheduling and production issues, » organizers said Friday.

The musical extravaganza was scheduled to take place over Labor Day weekend Sept. 2-4 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

“We are sorry to report that a combination of logistical, scheduling and production issues have forced us to cancel Day N Vegas for 2022,” promotion company Goldenvoice wrote on its website.

« The refund process will begin immediately and the funds will appear in your account within the next 2-4 weeks. »

Scott’s appearance at Day N Vegas would have marked the first time he has performed at a festival since the tragedy at his Houston festival in November 2021.

Other Day N Vegas headliners included SZA and rapper J. Cole, as well as backing bands 21 Savage, Pusha T and Summer Walker.

The Day N Vegas festival is just 15 minutes from where the Route 91 Harvest Festival took place in 2017, where at least 60 people tragically lost their lives in the deadliest mass shooting in modern history the United States.

Scott has remained relatively under the radar since the catastrophic Astroworld mob crash that left 10 dead and hundreds injured, though it did happen at a few private events.

The ‘Goosebumps’ hitmaker performed a set at a private Bootsy Bellows Coachella 2022 afterparty in April after no longer being part of the music festival’s official lineup. He also performed at a private party in Bel-Air ahead of that month’s Oscars.

Travis Scott performs during the 2021 Astroworld Festival at NRG Park on November 05, 2021 in Houston, Texas.
The rapper’s Day N Vegas appearance would have marked the first time he’s performed at a festival since his Houston festival tragedy in November 2021.

Scott claimed he was unaware that people in the crowd at Astroworld – where the deceased victims ranged in age from 9 to 27 – had been injured or killed as he continued to perform despite the crowd begging him to stop .

He has only given one interview since the festival, telling radio host Charlamagne Tha God in December 2021 that he had « 1,000% » done everything he could to help the dying and reiterating audience. that he hadn’t heard their screams from the stage.
