KAWASAKI, Japan – Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) has released the “TCK12xBG series” of load switching integrated circuits which provide remarkable decrease in quiescent current [1] and a nominal output current of 1A. Housed in a small WCSP4G package, the new integrated circuits will help product developers innovate a new generation of wearable devices and IoT devices that consume less power and provide longer charge life. Volume shipments begin today.

TCK12xBG series uses new control circuit, which realizes typical quiescent current in ON state of 0.08 nA [1] . This represents a reduction of approximately 99.9% from Toshiba’s current product, “TCK107AG”, a huge leap in efficiency that will allow portable devices and IoT devices powered by small batteries to run much longer. .

WCSP4G, a new package developed for the products, is approximately 34% smaller than that of the TCK107AG, only 0.645 × 0.645mm, which allows mounting on small boards. Its back coating can reduce the damage that can occur to such a tiny chip during the assembly process.

Toshiba has prepared a range of three integrated circuits: TCK127BG with automatic discharge that turns on at a high active level; TCK126BG without automatic discharge which turns on at high active level; and TCK128BG with automatic discharge that turns on at an active low level. This gives product developers and designers the freedom to select the load switch integrated circuit that best suits their design requirements.

Toshiba will continue to improve technology products with low quiescent current, to help reduce equipment size and power consumption, and to achieve a sustainable future.

Applications

  • Wearables, IoT devices, smartphones (ON and OFF switch of sensor power supply, etc.)
  • Replacement of load switching circuits formed by discrete semiconductors such as MOSFETs, transistors, etc.
