Three mobilizations necessary for a hotbed of resistance

The Republic is on the edge of the abyss. By dint of having disappointed, deceived, mistreated the working people, the youth and the creators, the agents of big capital have opened a royal road to the far right. Better, they considered that it could be their insurance to channel anger and prevent a change of power, politics and society. In the France in which the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen was signed, it is on the doorstep of power. With all our strength, we must refuse that our country join the camp of Trump, Bolsonaro, Erdogan, Salvini, Orban, Putin…

It is because the President of the Republic has never wanted to learn the lessons of the conditions of his election, imposing social violence, authoritarianism, contempt for citizens and intermediary bodies, that many progressive voters do not want not vote on Sunday. We understand this attitude all the better because this scenario was nearly avoided. Jean-Luc Mélenchon only needed a handful of votes for another choice to be offered to us.

Once again, it is left-wing voters and environmentalists who are asked to be responsible for two, in the service of the Republic.

This time again, Mr. Macron does not want to admit that 73% of those who went to the polls voted against him, and that he is largely responsible for the high abstention rate. It was a huge cry of anger against a backdrop of democratic attrition that was expressed on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Unlike other periods, the presidential candidate cannot count on another Republican candidate to seal a compromise in sight. of a second-round majority. Once again, it is left-wing voters and environmentalists who are asked to be responsible for two, in the service of the Republic. They have the responsibility to ward off the worst.

Contrary to the wishes of the two candidates, this is not a referendum for or against their project. It is unfortunate that Mr. Macron and part of the mainstream press continue to trivialize the far right by seeking unity around his program rather than against “lepéno-zemmourisme”, while gargling good words and rounds of last-minute leg to the left-wing electorate, with promises he himself does not believe a word of.

Sunday, by entering the bulletin bearing the name of Mr. Macron, there is no question of approving retirement at 65, the conditionality of the RSA to forced labor, the competition between schools within the same city, the new gifts envisaged for capital under the sweet word of “production taxes”, the cut to Social Security and a new austerity under cover of payment of a debt which only benefits financial funds. It will not be a vote for Mr. Macron. The newsletter bearing his name is the only tool we have to block the road to the extreme right. Not proceeding in this way within the framework of this method of voting is tantamount to giving a voice to “lepéno-zemmourisme” in spite of oneself.

Such a project bears the seeds of what should be called fascism. We never experience such a diet.

The ideological and political project of this duo is the complete opposite of a social rampart. Not only have these two far-rights taken over the entire program of the most radical right in the service of the powers of money, but the keystone of their project is xenophobic and authoritarian, identity-based, racist and anti-Semitic, draconian and security-based, aligned with the policies of the European extreme right, as their votes in the European Parliament amply show against equal pay for women and men, against a fairer use of funds from the common agricultural policy for rural areas and small farmers, to support the Polish power against the right to abortion, against paid internships and apprenticeships for young people. Ms. le Pen, moreover, is neither for the increase in the minimum wage, nor for a fairer distribution of wealth, nor for retirement at 60.

But there is worse ! The far-right candidate now wants – under the guise of a referendum – to carry out a constitutional coup. She would refuse, she explained, that the actions of the State be subject to the law and the jurisdictions that frame it. The principle of what is called a rule of law leads to compliance with the principle of constitutionality, with which dedicated bodies guarantee compliance, in particular the Constitutional Council. However, by wanting to apply the principle of “national priority”, the far-right candidate flouts all the fundamental texts and our Constitution.

This goes hand in hand with the lessening of the powers of justice, the restriction of public freedoms, the pluralism of the press and cultural creation with the privatization of the public pole of audiovisual, school textbooks or research subject to power Politics. Such a project bears the seeds of what should be called fascism. We never experience such a diet.

Mobilization to beat Le Pen. Social mobilization. Unitary mobilization to carry the hope of a left-wing majority in the National Assembly.

The worst is often lasting. And, in a democracy, the worst must be avoided. This is the first essential mobilization. The other two popular mobilizations complement each other. Resistance and actions in the streets, businesses, places of creation to reject the policy that the Macronist power will want to impose. It is the creation of a center of resistance in support of popular movements in the National Assembly with the election of a majority of left-wing and ecology deputies on the basis of a legislature contract from the programs of the various left-wing presidential candidates, while respecting political pluralism.

In other words, the common will should be to work for the re-election of all the outgoing deputies, to win others, certainly taking into account the results of the first round of the presidential election, but also the diversity of political sensitivities and gathered in the Mélenchon vote, while respecting the realities of each constituency. Thus can be presented, together, the maximum of unique candidacies of the forces of left and progress.

Triple mobilization, therefore. Mobilization to beat Le Pen. Social mobilization. Unitary mobilization to carry the hope of a left-wing majority in the National Assembly. Society, working people, creators have the imperative duty to invent and mobilize in unity.
