This is the nationalism of the CAQ

Many people were surprised to see CAQ MP Shirley Dorismond distribute – with a big smile – Canadian flags during the “most best country in the world” celebration.
Ditto for the CAQ’s decision to seek out former Conservative candidate Pascale Déry to defend her colors in Repentigny in the next election.
“Is that the nationalism of the CAQ? asked these people.
“PROUD TO BE CANADIAN! »
If you’re surprised, it’s because you haven’t listened to François Legault in recent years.
Here, to refresh your memory a little, is an anthology of the best pro-federalist quotes from the head of the CAQ.
“I promise you that Quebec will never separate from Canada. It’s time to stop talking about it, once and for all! (West Island Blog, July 28, 2018)
“People who don’t want to know anything about sovereignty have an alternative, and that’s the CAQ! (CAQ National Convention, May 27, 2018)
“I really reconciled with Canada! (CAQ National Convention, May 24, 2018)
“I am proud to be Canadian! (CAQ Congress, November 13, 2016)
“The CAQ’s plan is to have a little more power for Quebec, but to stay in Canada! (April 22, 2016)
“I accept that Quebec is in Canada. I think there are advantages to staying in Canada. First, 13 billion in equalization, it’s off to a good start. Then there are social programs that exist in Canada. There are good hockey teams in Canada. (Study of budgetary appropriations, April 17, 2019)
CANADA DAY, AN EXAMPLE?
Mr. Legault is not the only one to have loudly proclaimed his love for Canada. Several members of his team did the same.
“Christ of PQ! (Geneviève Guilbault, 2019)
« We want a strong Quebec within Canada and you can ask me the question 36,000 times, that’s what I’m telling you… » (Nathalie Roy, September 2, 2015)
“On this Canada Day, the slime of the separatist toad does not reach the ankle of my Quebec and Canadian pride. Get a Life ! (Christian Dubé, July 2, 2013)
And remember the declarations of the Minister of the Environment Benoit Charette on the « too great politicization » of the national holiday.
On June 18, 2015, Mr. Charette said that the Mouvement national des Québécois should be withdrawn from the organization of the national holiday.
“We believe on our side that we should not give the mandate to a sovereigntist association to organize a celebration whose mandate is to bring together all Quebecers. »
Not only that, but Mr. Charette finds that the July 1st celebrations are not political!
“I am also present at the July 1 celebrations which are funded by Heritage Canada and I do not recognize at all, at all the same political charge…”
It must be said that it is the same Benoit Charette who, as TVA Nouvelles pointed out on May 15, 2019, « has subsidized the Canada Day organizing committee in his corner on more than one occasion… »
