WASHINGTON — Shea Theodore scored at 1:35 in overtime and the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Tuesday.

Jack Eichel maneuvered well in the opposing zone. Patient, he ended up serving a perfect pass in the slot to Theodore, who collected a third goal this season.

Eichel and William Carrier have been the other scorers for the Knights, who have won their last five matches.

Alex Pietrangelo has been instrumental in every Vegas goal, giving him nine assists this season.

Logan Thompson made 19 saves, being beaten by Marcus Johansson and Trevor van Riemsdyk.

Charlie Lindgren stopped 28 shots.

The visitors’ Phil Kessel is six games away from reaching the milestone of 1,000 games played in a row.

The Golden Knights continue their stay in the East by visiting the Senators on Thursday. They will play at the Bell Center on Saturday night.
