The US Secretary of State visits Montreal on Friday


US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is making his first official visit to Canada as a senior US diplomat. He will travel to Ottawa on Thursday and then to Montreal the following day.

During his visit to Ottawa, Mr. Blinken will meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, with whom he will notably discuss the crisis in Haiti, the situation in Iran, the Arctic, Canada’s next strategy for Indo- Pacific and War in Ukraine.

In Montreal, the US Secretary of State will visit a lithium recycling facility with Ms. Joly. The purpose of the visit is to « promote North American competitiveness and deepen economic and supply chain cooperation, » according to Mr. Blinken’s agenda.
