The surplus of carbon credits could soon turn into a shortage

Hundreds of companies plan to meet their climate goals by using carbon credits to offset emissions they cannot eliminate on their own. Soon there might not be enough credits for everyone.

Despite record demand for carbon credits last year, the supply of new offset credits has always exceeded demand. This created a surplus that kept most carbon credits cheap.
