the street gangs behind the shootings

The shots that injured four near Cégep Montmorency in Laval late yesterday afternoon could be linked to street gang activity, according to several police sources.

The shooting had resulted in the confinement of a hundred students as well as College staff, as a preventive measure.

Our colleagues from The Press report that at least one of the victims would have direct links with street gangs. It is a 19-year-old man, resident of Laval-Des-Rapides. He is said to have been the subject of several criminal charges in recent years. He would have been charged in particular with possession of prohibited weapons in 2021, indicates The Press.

The other victims would not have a priori a criminal record.

The director of the Service de Police de Laval (SPL) Pierre Brochet and the mayor of Laval Stéphane Boyer will provide more details about this shooting Saturday morning, during a press briefing.
