A medical helicopter crashed on a highway in Sacramento, California on Monday, seriously injuring the three people on board, officials said. A group of passers -by saved one of them by helping to lift the ground aircraft.
The helicopter went on the American road 50 around 7 p.m. to East Sacramento, said Captain Justin Sylvia, spokesperson for the Sacramento fire service.
The heads of the fire service asked about 15 passers -by to help lift the plane to release a woman trapped below, said Captain Sylvia. A man was also removed from the wreckage and a woman was found about 10 feet from the accident site, he added. The three people were hospitalized in critical condition.
Captain Sylvia said the cause of the accident was investigated.
