The Texas formation did everything to return to the score late in the game, but were handicapped by their low conversion rate (38.2%) and were dominated around the ring, collecting 19 rebounds less than their rivals.
Rudy Gobert particularly stood out in this facet of the game with 17 rebounds. Unproductive on the floor, with five points, the French however excelled defensively. The offensive contribution of Donovan Mitchell (32 points) and Bojan Bogdanovic (26) was enough for the Jazz.
In the absence of Doncic, plagued by a calf injury, Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie led the charge on offense for the “Mavs” with 24 and 22 points respectively.
The Jazz took a 1-0 lead in the series and will be back in Dallas on Monday for the second leg of this confrontation.
