Managers are investigating after a medical helicopter crashed on a sacramento motorway on Monday evening.
The Sacramento fire service said that a medical helicopter at hand had fallen shortly after 7 p.m. on motorway 50 in the direction is near 59th street.
Three crew members – a pilot, a nurse and an ambulancer – were on board and all were taken to hospitals in the region with critical injuries, said Captain Justin Sylvia with Sacramento Fire. No vehicle on the highway has been involved.
Two crew members were located on the road while one of the crew members was trapped under the helicopter when the first fire service unit arrived, said Sylvia. A fire captain and passers -by who offered help were able to raise the plane of the trapped crew member.
“We are determining the details of this situation, as well as the state of the Reach of Reach involved, which were all taken to the hospitals of the region,” said Reach in a statement. “We will continue to provide information as it becomes available. There was no patient on board.
A highway 50 route was reopened in the 59th Street to allow traffic to pass, California Highway Patrol said.
The cause of the accident remains under study. The Sacramento County Sheriff said that he was helping the CHP.
