The Giants season is on

The Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Giants kicked off their 53rd season in the Quebec Student Sports Network football league on Saturday night at the Alphonse-Desjardins stadium. At halftime, they lead 23 to 18 against the Cégep de Lévis Faucons.
They started the game well as Jonathan Martel-Joseph crossed the end zone on the kickoff on a 91-yard run. The Falcons later conceded a safety touchdown after a bad throw-in.
The visitors responded with another safety, then a major on a 75-yard run to take an 11-9 lead.
In the second quarter, a veiled pass from quarterback Danny Stamiris to Louis-Félix Leblanc led the ball to the goal gate. The latter completed the push with a two-yard run to restore the lead to the Giants, 16-11.
Jean-Philippe Bégin’s troops added to their lead on a 36-yard run by Jonathan Martel-Joseph for the touchdown, making the score 23-11.
With 17.6 seconds left in the first half, an interception allowed the Falcons to score a touchdown and close the gap to 23-18.
