The future of 79 affordable housing units secured


The Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal (SHDM) has acquired two buildings in the boroughs of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and Montréal-Nord, ensuring the long-term affordability of 79 housing units .

Located at 4415, rue de Bellechasse, in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, and at 3794, boulevard Henri-Bourassa, in the borough of Montréal-Nord, these two buildings contain respectively 37 and 42 apartments, including several family accommodation.

« These two acquisitions are part of the SHDM’s strategic plan to increase its housing stock of affordable rental housing in order to meet the needs related to the housing crisis, » said Nancy Shoiry, Executive Director of the SHDM, by way of of press release.

This initiative is a continuation of the Chantier Montréal Affordable project initiated by the City of Montreal.

Following these acquisitions, the paramunicipal corporation now owns 4,847 affordable residential units across the island of Montreal.
