FBOY Island has always been about breaking the rules. A host can’t roast singles? Yes, she can. No place for comedy sketches on a dating show? Welcome to Limbro. Can’t a reality TV show argue against toxic masculinity while still being a good time to relax? This is FBOY Island the totality. So it makes sense that going into season 2, the HBO Max series is starting to break some of its own rules – and that’s where we throw in a SPOILER WARNING for the FBOY Island Season 2 finale.
Okay, before we get to that, we actually have to go back to the season 1 finale when FBOY Island first broke one of his own rules… a very important rule. The whole conceit of the show was that if a woman chose a Nice Guy, she would split her prize money and go on as a couple. But if the guy she picked was an FBOY, then the guy could choose if he wanted to split the money or take it all and run away. In the Season 1 finale, Sarah opted to go with FBOY Garrett, who then decided to withdraw all the money and peace. The show dropped a bombshell on Garrett when they dropped the format and instead donated all that prize money to charity rather than seeing him end up with a reality TV villain. Going into the Season 2 finale, the prequel told us anything could happen – and something did occur. Of course he did. Anything can happen on FBOY Island!
The show wasn’t going to play taking backsies with the prize money this time around, if a guy decided to F over his girl. But host Nikki Glaser presented women with a third option: instead of choosing one or the other, women could choose themselves and keep everything money. So even if a girl really likes her Nice Guy, she has to decide if she $100,000 likes it. It’s a great twist…and you know it’s a great twist because it opens up the possibility of a second, even bigger twist.
Facing two Nice Guys, the feisty Tamaris was guaranteed a $50,000 salary no matter who she chose. But do you know what is literally over $50,000? $100,000. Tamaris chose herself, sketching a big smile and saying…
Yes, Tamaris is an FGIRL!
Uh, the cast is super dumbfounded, obviously. They remain speechless, especially Casey and Niko who have just been dumped on TV and lost $50,000. It’s tough but, as Tamaris explains, no one should be surprised…because she’s spent the whole season tell people she’s a FGIRL.
In the great tradition of every mystery movie of all time, we get a montage of all the times Tamaris deduced or directly told guys she was an FGIRL. She doesn’t trust people, she’s lied to guys about having feelings for them, she’s cheated before, etc. She even used the term FGIRL to describe herself twice! The funniest thing in retrospect has to be when Niko asked Tamaris, “What gets you out of bed in the morning?” And Tamaris answered without hesitation: “Money. I am a scammer. Nico! She told you!
Wow. Tamarisk came FBOY Island playing the game on his terms, and that third option of taking all the prize money was a perfect match for his game. It makes you wonder which twist came first. Did the show launch an FGIRL and then decide to give her that option? Or did Tamaris sneak onto the show as an FGIRL posing as a nice girl and luck into the perfect exit? It’s up to us to wonder, but it really doesn’t matter anyway. You must deliver it to Tamaris. She saw the game as it was played in Season 1, and she saw FBOY Garrett trying his best to fuck Sarah, and she said, “Hold my margarita.” Tamaris the FGIRL showed all these FBOYs how it is Finished.
