Newark, New Jersey – An excess flight offer forced airlines to reduce prices this year and prompted carriers to reduce their growth plans.

United Airlines“ Expansion, however, exceeds its major competitors from airlines, a PDG of plan, Scott Kirby, told CNBC because of the product, network and company technology, such as equipment on board such as Bluetooth connectivity, file screens and its application.

“This year will eventually demonstrate two things: if you are a faithful airline of the brand, you are resilient, even in a slowdown,” Kirby said in an interview on Tuesday, referring to a customer decline earlier this year, when consumers have weighed an assault of prices at the same time. “And I think that our fourth quarter results will demonstrate the increase when the economy begins to recover.”

United will report the third quarter results and provide its fourth quarter prospects in mid-October.

United should increase the national American capacity by 5.7% in 2025 compared to last year, according to the aviation data company Cirium. On average, American airlines developed just under 2%, with Delta airlines And American airlines interior growth has increased by around 3%, and Southwest Airlines Increase of 1.4% from 2024, CIRIUM data is displayed.

“We are just a different place because customers choose us, and I think it is one of the biggest changes in the industry,” said Kirby. “So many airlines considered plane trips as a commodity.”

Kirby reiterated his point of view according to which the ultra-discount model in the United States does not work, pointing difficulties to Spirit Airlines in difficulty, which deposited for the protection against the bankruptcy of chapter 11 for the second time in less than a last year. At an industry conference last week in Long Beach, California, Kirby said he was expecting Spirit, saying “I am good in mathematics”.

Kirby spoke Tuesday in CNBC at the Hangar of the airline at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, where in June 2021, United unveiled new interiors for its narrow -outdo Boeing had. Kirby said United is about two -thirds of the path through his plan to equip these planes with new cabins.

American airlines have run to update the cabins with more modern seats as well as more spacious seats at the front of the plane while customers continue to pay for more space on board sometimes 10 times or more the price of a standard economic seat.

Delta President Glen Hauenstein said at a conference by Morgan Stanley in California last week that “much more” half of the carrier’s income comes from the main cabin, including their lucrative loyalty program, and that next year Delta will offer a “record number” of premium seats.

“We do not see any stops of this,” said Hauenstein.
