The candidate vice-presidential of the opposition, B Sudershan Reddy, said on Tuesday that he humbly accepted defeat in vice-presidential polls and said that democracy was not reinforced not by victory, but by the spirit of dialogue, dissent and participation.
In a press release published shortly after the NDA candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, was declared elected to the post of vice-president, Reddy said that although the result is not in his favor, the wider cause “we have collectively sought to move forward, remains unconverted”. “The ideological battle continues with ever greater vigor,” said Reddy.
“I humbly accept this result with constant faith in the democratic processes of our great Republic. This trip was a deep honor, offering me the possibility of defending the values that guided my life – constitutional morality, justice and dignity of each individual. ” He hung a sincere gratitude to the leaders of the opposition parties who made him their joint candidate.
