The Canadian women’s soccer team will play 2 international friendlies against Brazil in November


Canada travel to South America next month for a pair of women’s friendlies against Brazil in the FIFA November international window.

The seventh-ranked Canadians will face ninth-ranked Brazil on November 11-15. The location of the matches in Brazil has not been announced.

« We are delighted to end the year with two great games against Brazil, » Canada coach Bev Priestman said in a statement. « We know that our two nations have a rich history when they face each other in big moments. Given some of the realities on the roster, this window will again provide us with a great opportunity to continue testing and building our depth against very good opponents. »

« With our group now known for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, it makes reuniting and climbing even more exciting. It’s been a great year for many of our players and we’re delighted with the finish with more hope, excellent performances and steps forward. »

Canada is 8-9-9 against Brazil since their first meeting in 1996.

The most recent encounter was at the Tokyo Olympics where the Canadians won 4-3 in a penalty shootout after the quarter-final match ended 0-0. Canada also beat Brazil 2-1 in the bronze medal game at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Canadians are 10-2-3 this year and have won four straight since losing 1-0 to the United States in the CONCACAF W Championship final in Mexico in July.

Canada beat Australia 1-0 and 2-1 last month in Brisbane and Sydney, respectively. Earlier this month he beat Argentina 2-0 and Morocco 4-0, with both games in Spain.

Canada will play in Group B alongside Australia (No. 13), Ireland (No. 24) and Nigeria (No. 45) at next summer’s tournament.
