The Canadian agrees for four years with Kirby Dach


The Montreal Canadiens reached an agreement on Wednesday with forward Kirby Dach, but had to resign themselves to placing the name of goalkeeper Carey Price on the long-term injured list.

The deal with Dach is for four seasons and will earn the 21-year-old skater US$13.45 million, an average salary of $3.3625 million per season, until the end of the 2025 season. -26.

Dach scored nine goals and added 17 assists in 70 games with the Chicago Blackhawks last season. The Albertan played 152 games in the NHL, collecting 59 points, including 19 goals.

Drafted third overall by the Hawks in 2019, the six-foot-four, 197-pound center was acquired for a first-round pick and a third-round pick in 2022 on July 7.

No improvement for Price

During a press conference held at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard, the club’s general manager, Kent Hughes, indicated that Price’s knee had not responded positively to the treatments to which it was subjected and that he did not So he had no choice but to put his name on the injured list for a long time.

This registration will allow the Habs to obtain relief under the salary cap. Price’s salary accounts for $10.5 million annually.

The general manager added that ideally he would complete another trade by the start of the season to give him more room to maneuver under the salary cap. Monahan and Drouin for the start of the season?

Hughes also indicated that forwards Sean Monahan (hip) and Jonathan Drouin (wrist) could be ready for the start of the season.

In Monahan’s case, he will skate on Thursday and the organization will know more about his condition.

Should both players not be ready on October 12, Hughes believes it would only be a matter of weeks.
