The beloved British author of “Rutshire Chronicles” was 88 years old

British author Jilly Cooper, loved for his work on Rutshire tellsdied at the age of 88.

His agent confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter Monday morning, explaining that Cooper died Sunday after a fall.

Her children Felix and Emily said in a statement: “Mom was the brilliant light in all our lives. His love for all his family and friends did not know any limits. His unexpected death was a complete shock. We are so proud of everything she has achieved in her life and cannot start imagining life without her smile and her infectious laughs all around us. ”

Cooper’s long -standing agent, Felicity Blunt, added: “The privilege of my career has worked with a woman who defined culture, writing and conversation since she was published for the first time more than fifty years ago. Jilly will undoubtedly be in memories for his series of topping of graphics. The Rutshire tells And its pest and its beautiful Rupert Campbell-Black Rupert-Saut hero. You would not expect books to be classified as Bonkbusters have so categorically resisted the test of time, but Jilly wrote with acuity and insight on all things – class, sex, marriage, rivalry, sorrow and fertility. “”

“His plots were both complex and courageous,” continued Blunt, “increased with strong observations and nasty humor. She regularly extracted her own life to be inspired and that there was something to have about her dissections of society, from her many prejudices and standards. unbeatable.

In recent years, Cooper has added to its curriculum vitae as an executive producer on the Happy Prince adaptation of his novel Rivals For Disney +, with David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Bella Maclean, Emily Atack, Danny Dyer, Katherine Parkinson and Nafessa Williams. The series follows Cooper’s novel on the infamous scourtrel and the deputy of the former Rupert Campbell-Black and his rivalry with Tony Baddingham who infiltrated the world of the 1980s in Rutshire, a fictitious Cotté des Cotswolds, in England.

But in the midst of the debauchery of the upper class and the hot narration which made Cooper a familiar name in his native United Kingdom emerged an emblematic love story of the talent of the writer for romance.

“His suggestions for history and dialogue inevitably superimposed scripts and enriched and his presence on the set was a joy for the actors and the crew,” said Blunt. “Emotionally intelligent, fantastically generous, strongly attentive and fun, Jilly Cooper will be deeply missing from everyone at Curtis Brown and on the set of the rivals. I lost a friend, an ally, a confidant and a mentor. But I know she will live forever in the words she put on the page and on the screen. ”

A Thanksgiving Public Service will take place in the coming months of Southwark Cathedral in London.
