Kimberly Hébert Gregory, better known for playing Dr. Belinda Brown on the HBO series Vice-directordied on Friday. She was 52 years old.
The ex-husband of Gregory, Chester Gregory, confirmed his death on Instagram. The cause of death was not immediately available.
“Kimberly Hébert Gregory you were shiny embodied, a black woman whose spirit lit each room, whose presence bore both fire and grace. You taught us the lessons of courage, in art, in resilience and in the way of continuing to present itself, even when life demanded more than its share,” wrote Chester Gregory on Instagram. Born on December 7, 1972 in Houston, Gregory played in dozens of projects throughout his career. One of his most notable roles was the inflamed director of North Jackson High School in Vice-directorWith Danny McBride and Walton Goggins.
Goggins, who played like Lee Russell Vice-directorwrote in homage: “We lost one of the best yesterday … One of the best with which I have ever worked. Kimberly Hebert Gregory. I had the honor … The good fortune to get to know each other, to spend months working with this queen on Vice-director. She made me laugh like no other. A professional professional. A soprano from Gatdamn who has never lacked note. We will miss my friend. As much as you know.
Busy Philipps, who played Gale Liptrapp on black comedy, also wrote: “Oh my God, I am devastated to hear this. She was a light and a force. She will miss.”
