MONTREAL — The 1,830 union members at Bell technical solutions in Quebec have finally ratified the agreement in principle that was reached with the employer to renew their collective agreement.
These employees, members of the Unifor union, which is affiliated with the FTQ, work as technicians and logistics agents throughout Quebec. They install and repair Bell services.
This negotiation was laborious. A first agreement in principle was reached between the parties last May, but the members rejected it by 81% in June.
This time, after several general meetings held throughout the week, virtually, Unifor members endorsed it.
Unifor’s national representative in Quebec, Charles Saumure, admits that the negotiation “was certainly not an easy negotiation”, since “the expectations of the members were very high” in the current inflationary environment.
