Tarleton’s state coach Billy Gillispie has reinstated after examination

The state of Tarleton restored the male coach of basketball Billy Gillispie, who was placed on temporary administrative leave on Friday following an investigation into an anonymous complaint.

“We are grateful to Texas A & M System for having worked quickly in the fight against this anonymous complaint,” the sports director of Tarleton State, Steve Uryasz said on Monday. “The well-being of our student-athletes is of the utmost importance for the Tarleton State University and Texas A & M System. We are impatiently awaiting the start of the Texan male basketball season.”

No details about the nature of the complaint has been made available. Associated head coach Glynn Cyprien was acting head coach in the middle of the investigation.

Gillispie is known for his difficult practices, which he says he tells potential recruits in his program.

Gillispie faced allegations of ill -treatment of the players while he was coach of Texas Tech in 2011 and 2012. He resigned from his functions of the raiders – invoking health problems – in September 2012. The resignation came a month after the school declared that it had investigated the affirmations, which arise from the players of Texas Tech expressing the concerns about the way they were treated by Gillispie.

Questions about the style of coach of Gillis was also raised during his stay in Kentucky, including the treatment of players and staff of the athletics department. He was dismissed in 2009, the Kentucky sports director Mitch Barnhart, said that Gillispie “was not the right adapted to the program”. A rules of $ 3 million on its dismissal was later reached that year.

Gillispie, 65, is in his sixth season in Tarleton State, the longest of his five sequences of coach in five divisions, which also include time at UTEP and Texas A&M.

Gillispie A 78-74 in Tarleton State, including a 25-10 file in 2023-24 and an appearance of the tournament in the Séries Counteientes (CIT) of Collegesider.com. He has a file of 226-182 in 13 seasons as a chief coach with four appearances at the NCAA tournament.
