Tamil Nadu “regaining lost ground” on CCG, without catching up: the Minister of TN Trb Rajaa Industries

The Minister of Tamil Nadu Industries, Trb Rajaa, said that the State does not “catch up” others to attract global capacity centers (GCC) but “return to the lost ground”, positioning itself again as a center for business innovation and high -value technological operations.

Addressing CNBC-TV18, Rajaa said that Tamil Nadu was among the original leaders in the history of the CCG before losing momentum while cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad have acquired by better airport infrastructure and faster political support. “TN was GCCS’s OG-We have seen a drop like Bengaluru and Hyderabad airports have taken off and Chennai airport did not do it. But we are installing this now,” he said.

The Minister stressed that the Tamil Nadu is unique among the Indian states to ensure distributive growth rather than concentrating development in one or two cities. “At Tamil Nadu, the unique window clearance system is actually a unique customs clearance system,” he added, highlighting continuous efforts to make bureaucracy more sensitive to the needs of investors.

Rajaa acknowledged that the constraints of the ground space index (FSI) limited the construction of large towers – a key requirement for the main CCG players – but said the government tried to suppress these bottlenecks. “We are correcting the systems to make sure we can bring CCG to Tamil Nadu,” he said.

He projected Hosur as the next major growth center for the GCC activity. “Hosur will become the next Bengaluru while the CCGs are launching there,” said Rajaa, quoting its growing industrial base and its proximity to the Bengaluru talent ecosystem.

In terms of technology, Rajaa has urged businesses to “reinvent themselves” for the next wave of automation and the transformation led by AI. “CCGs must reinvent themselves. What better place to do that in Chennai? We can jump directly from the agenic AI and capture this market,” he said.

Despite competition from other metros, Rajaa argued that the sustainable force of Tamil Nadu lies in his skilled workforce. “TN is the capital of the talents of India-this is an advantage that no other state has,” he said.
