Strong police presence in the Williams Lake neighborhood

RCMP officers in Williams Lake were involved in a standoff in a residential area.

Heavily armed emergency response officers were deployed Sunday morning to a small apartment complex in the Smedley Street and 11th Avenue area.

Officers have cordoned off the area and are urging residents to stay away.

The police have not yet released any official information, but the situation is known to have been going on for hours.
