Stock futures drop to start second half


US stock futures fell early in the second half of the year as investors braced for more volatility amid higher inflation and expected interest rate hikes.

S&P 500 futures edged down 0.3% on Friday. The broad index closed lower on Thursday, racking up further losses to mark the worst first half of the year since 1970. Contracts for the tech-focused Nasdaq-100 fell 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.3%.
