Stars beat Jets without head coach Rick Bowness 4-1

DALLAS — Jani Hakanpaa and Joel Kiviranta hit the target within two minutes of the second period as the Dallas Stars edged the Winnipeg Jets 4-1, still without head coach Rick Bowness, on Monday.
Tyler Seguin and Miro Heiskanen also hit the target for the Stars (3-0-0). Mason Marchmant, who scored three goals in his first two games with the Stars, had two assists. Jake Oettinger stopped 24 shots in the win.
Mark Scheifele scored his third goal of the season for the Jets (1-1-0). Connor Hellebuyck made 25 saves.
A positive COVID-19 test also sidelined Bowness in the Jets’ opener on Friday. Bowness, 67, served as the Stars’ head coach until June but decided not to renew his contract. He led the Stars to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2020.
