Spirit Airlines told staff on Friday that he suspended around 40 routes, finalizing a 25% reduction in its November calendar when it reproduces to reduce bankruptcy costs and focus on profitable flights.
“Although the news has been difficult, we believe that clarity will help us move forward in the team,” said Rana Ghosh, commercial director of Spirit, in a note to employees, seen by CNBC.
Earlier this week, Spirit said that he was planning to have around 1,800 on -board agents entrusted, around a third of its cabin crew members.
Spirit filed a request for protection against the bankruptcy of chapter 11 last month for the second time in less than a year, because it fought with higher costs than expected and a lower travel request than it provided.
Spirit did not immediately comment on the routes he cuts, but Ghosh said in his note that Spirit will do the service in Hartford, Connecticut and Minneapolis.
He also declared that Spirit had hired Andrea Lusso, who was previously the director of the supply chain and the design of the network to Amazon airThe air shipping arm online. Lusso will be vice-president of network planning. His predecessor, John Kirby, retired last month after more than 40 years in industry.
