Spain, Barça Great Jordi Alba to retire at the end of the Miami season

Inter Miami, defender Jordi Alba, announced on Tuesday his decision to retire football at the end of the MLS 2025 season.

The old left Spain revealed the news in an article on its Instagram account.

I decided to end my professional football career at the end of this season,” said Alba. “I do it with complete conviction, peace and happiness. Alba had previously signed an extension of contract with the club in May during the MLS 2027 season, before choosing to cancel its agreement and retire.

The defender joined Inter Miami for the first time in Barcelona in July 2023, bringing together the teammates of Barcelona Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets.

He then was an integral part of the recent success of the club. He propelled the club to the first 2023 Legue Cup trophy, the 2024 supporter shield and helped establish the League record for most of the points in a single season.

Alba scored 10 goals and 27 assists in 63 regular season games on three campaigns, often connecting to Messi in the last third to inspire Miami in victory.

The defender now closes a formidable 16 -year -old career. In 11 seasons in Barcelona, ​​he helped the legendary Spanish club with six titles from Laliga and a victory in the Champions League with 37 goals with 107 assists in 605 games all competitions.

With Spain, he won the 2012 UEFA UEFA championship and the UEFA 2023 Nations League.
